Regenerative is a whole-system approach, not a single label. Here's what it means in practice at Mangaroa.
Adaptive, rotational grazing
Cattle and sheep are moved regularly with Halter virtual fencing, giving pasture time to recover and rebuild roots between grazings.
Year-round ground cover
We keep living roots in the soil across the seasons to protect it, feed soil life and cycle water and nutrients.
Diverse pasture
A mix of species rather than a monoculture supports soil biology, resilience and animal health.
100% grass-fed, pasture-raised
No grain finishing, no feedlot — our animals live on pasture and eat what grows on it.
On-farm butchery
After professional slaughter through our approved provider, carcasses return to Mangaroa for local butchery, so the chain stays short and traceable.
Transparent supply chain
Every cut is traceable back to the paddock. You can drive past where your dinner was raised and meet the people who handled it.

What does regenerative mean at Mangaroa Farms?
It means farming in a way that aims to leave the land better over time — living soil, diverse pasture, year-round ground cover and adaptive grazing that rebuilds pasture and biodiversity. It is an outcome-based approach to the whole farm system, not a single certified input.
Is regenerative meat the same as organic meat?
No. Organic is a legally regulated certification about approved inputs and standards; regenerative describes a farming system focused on improving ecological function over time. Mangaroa is regeneratively farmed and 100% grass-fed, but we are not certified organic and we never claim to be.
Is your beef and lamb grass-fed?
Yes — our cattle and sheep are 100% grass-fed and pasture-raised. No grain finishing, no added hormones and no GMO feed.
What do you not claim?
We do not claim certified-organic status, and we do not make blanket claims that regenerative farming automatically stores more carbon or produces nutritionally superior meat. We describe what we actually do on the farm and let the practices speak for themselves.
